Intense pulsed light delivers filtered flashes that are absorbed by two targets only: red (haemoglobin in dilated vessels) and brown (melanin in sun spots). The Cynosure Icon MaxG handpiece uses optimised pulses and contact cooling so each flash reaches the target while the surrounding skin stays comfortable. Spots darken and flake away over a week; redness fades over the series. Best booked on untanned skin — October to April in Ottawa.
Prices in CAD before HST. Three sessions, 3–4 weeks apart, is the standard series; every package of three saves $48 or more versus singles.
Ottawa clinics generally charge $150–$450 per session for the face. Our fixed Icon MaxG prices start at $99 (nose or both cheeks), Full Face $199, Face + Neck $299 and Face + Neck + Décolleté $399, before HST. Packages of three save $48–$98.
Three sessions, 3–4 weeks apart, then one maintenance session a year. Redness often improves after the first; sun spots clear progressively through the series.
IPL cannot tell a tan from a sun spot. Untanned winter skin lets us use fully effective settings safely, and the two weeks of sun avoidance after each session is easy between October and April.
A quick elastic snap with warmth; contact cooling keeps it comfortable. Expect a few hours of pinkness and about a week of darker, 'coffee-ground' spots before they flake off. Make-up the next day.
IPL removes distinct pigment — spots and visible vessels. Laser Genesis calms diffuse redness and refines texture with gentle heat. Many clients do both; our 2D Power Combo pairs them in one visit.
